Geese

Toulouse

The Toulouse goose is a very old domestic breed. It was developed in Haute Garonne, where the city of Toulouse is the region’s center in south-western France. The name of Toulouse goose has been recorded back as far as 1555. Especially the original grey-colored breed which is a very old one.

Pheasants

Himalayan Monal

The Himalayan Monal, also known as the Impeyan Monal and Impeyan Pheasant, is a pheasant native to Himalayan forests and shrublands at elevations of 2,100–4,500 m.  It is the national bird of Nepal, where it is known as the Danphe or Danfe, and state bird of Uttarakhand, India, where it is known as the Moal. It was also the state bird of Himachal Pradesh until 2007.

Guinea Fowl

Pied Helmeted

Guinea Fowl are a group of birds that live in Africa. There are six different species of Guinea Fowl, the White-Breasted, Helmeted, Black, Plumed, Crested, and Vulturine Guinea Fowl. Breeders have domesticated one species, the Helmeted species. Now, these Guinea Fowl can be found living on farms virtually worldwide.

Peafowl

Silver Pied

Male peacocks are brightly coloured, with a predominantly blue fan-like crest of spatula-tipped wire-like feathers and are best known for the long train made up of elongated upper-tail covert feathers which bear colourful eyespots. These stiff feathers are raised into a fan and quivered in a display during courtship. Despite the length and size of these covert feathers, peacocks are still capable of flight. Peahens lack the train, and have a greenish lower neck and duller plumage.

Our poultry program is a true pursuit of passion. Each breed and variety was specifically chosen for inclusion at Silver Prairie Stock & Poultry Farm Socrates Petting Zoo due to our absolute interest in their future conservation.
